A Critical Analysis of Europeanism as an Ideology. Its Preconditions and Tenets

This paper looks at European integration and specifi cally its institutional form – the Union from an ideological perspective. The author claims that ‘Europeanism’ has become a new ideology shared among intellectual, political, judicatory, societal, even dominant economic elites influence or shape as institution major policies. As ideology, is somewhat exotic mixture of various, seemingly incoherent trends give current intriguing characteristics. On one hand, economically, can easily identify numerous elements neoliberalism, especially regarding financial aspects integration. Likewise, arguments used by proponents vis-à-vis USA, China, Japan are neoliberal character. At same time, international trade in agricultural products, intellectual property, internal (single market) competition (freedom labour) rather quickly spots distinct protectionism over-regulation. Finally, terms philosophical outlook moral issues, seems to be mostly focusing on progressive agenda.
